Meet Jennifer — In Her Own Words
Q: What brought you to Alpine?
A: I was raised in Utah but moved to California to teach with Americorps. After several years, the mountains—and family connections—called me home. My husband and I were overjoyed to find a house in Alpine that not only fit our needs but also checked every box on our wish list: neighborhood kids playing at the park, unscheduled family hikes on quiet Saturday afternoons, and biking to school. Alpine was, and still is, a dream come true.
Q: Why are you running for Alpine City Council?
A: I believe Alpine is at a turning point. We face important decisions about growth, open space, and protecting what makes this community unique. I’m passionate about public administration—so much so that I earned a graduate degree in it with an emphasis in state and local government. I believe I have the drive, knowledge, and experience to listen to our community and help Alpine make the critical choices ahead.
Q: What experience do you bring to this role?
A: Like so many of you, I’m a well-intentioned neighbor who cares deeply about Alpine—but I also bring the skills and experience to hit the ground running without a learning curve. I’ve worked in public policy for years and currently serve as the policy advisor for the Utah State Board of Education. Here in Alpine, I’ve served as Chair of the School Community Council, held PTA leadership roles, served on the Sculpture Park committee, assisted with the senior luncheons, and founded a nonprofit that helps local families and strengthens community ties. This isn’t a part-time hobby for me—it’s my passion. I’m ready to work from day one.
Q: What do you love most about Alpine?
A: The people. We’re lucky to have neighbors who show up, volunteer, and work together to keep Alpine special. And of course—the mountains!
Q: What’s your vision for Alpine?
A: I want to help keep Alpine a place where families feel supported, where our open spaces remain protected, and where growth decisions reflect both common sense and the values of our community. Alpine’s future shouldn’t be left to chance—it should be shaped by residents who care deeply about preserving what makes this city special while ensuring we’re prepared for the challenges ahead.
